Out of Eden learn walk... Learning Journey 1

Hi from the young explorers from Greece
We are a Kindergarten class of 22 students (11 boys and 11 girls) at 4th  Nipiagogeio in Kilkis,Greece. We know that it’s the first time you hear this little town, which is in the borders of Greece. We are 4-6 years old and we are all very lucky that we live in a peaceful town so far. Most of all we are lucky that we have a big schoolyard where we can play with the ground and hear the music of the trees.
Setting Off
The picture that we have chosen for our avatar is a picture that our teacher Maria took by accident while we were drawing our footsteps in the schoolyard in order to make a video for you. When we saw that picture and heard the story of Paul Salopek we thought he was the walking man, who came in our schoolyard to see our paintings.
Because we are very young, one thing is certain: we love to learn through playing. We also enjoy to make noise and crafts.

Out of Eden learn for students of 4th Nipiagogeio of Kilkis, Greece by Slidely Slideshow

We admire Paul Salopek for his long journey. Our first thought when we saw images and videos from his travel was that he is in danger. Many of us think that he has no food, no water, no home and he is in danger from wild animals. On the other hand he has many experiences like meeting new friends and see things that we can't see.

That’s why we ask him to pay attention to or look out for:
PEACE in the world (Can you find her?)
Tell us about the animals and the plants you see. Take a lot of photos.
Can you see the rainbow?
Are all the children go to school?
We also like to hear stories and legends from the people you meet.

Creating Neighborhood Maps

This is our maps for our town.
We tried to draw our maps with several tolls as everyone has his own view of his town.
My town has:
SCHOOLS
CHURCHES
SERVICES
THEATRE
SHOPS
HOUSES
MANY CARS

Taking Neighborhood Walks

A walk in the neighborhood

Our first learning walk is to visit the fields that are close to our school. We went there on October as we wanted to watch the farmers work. On the way we had the chance to make observations as what is on the road, what else we could find?

As we were walking we find oil trees and we said the myth. Then we gather olive branches because we wanted to make the crown of peace.
On the road we found houses. Anna Maria told us where her house was and we show her grandmother and her brother salute us. She also told us that there was a playground where she was going to play afternoons with her brother. That day Anna Maria was very happy. Konstantinos also told us that his house was not far from here and he likes hiw neighborhood because there are few cars and he can run free with no fear. In this area ther are no high buildings and live poor people as there is a district area for labors.
When we arrived in the field we saw traces of tractor. The farmer has just finished the plowing of the field. We sang the song The farmer goes to the field.
It was time to go back to our school. On the road we stopped in crossroads and we mention the importance to watch all the labels and to respect the highway code.
And we met a dog and we saw a coop of chickens. We decided to take care the animals as they needed our love.

If we could change something in our neighborhood?
TO HAVE MORE CLEAN STREETS AND PARKS WITH NO RUBBISH AT ALL.
